Battle League is simply what it is: a warped version of football, this time, five-a-side and featuring Mario and his friends. There is a handful of different game modes along with a little customization available for the characters. Outside of this, Mario Strikers: Battle League is bare, and one of the first things you notice when you boot the game for the first time is the emptiness of the game.

With soccer, you’ll quickly notice that what matters is the gameplay. Battle League and all its predecessors excel in creating classes, creating multiple mechanics that matter. This is primarily a soccer title, and those mechanics are the fastest and most likely the ones that come just before the tackle. In Mario Strikers, any tackle is legal.

Key Features:

• Strike Rules: A fairly designed system of soccer that is 5-v-5, that has no standard of behavior, and certainly no handballs or fouls. Players are encouraged to tackle and use items and rely on combo passes.
• Hyper Strikes: Targets that are charged by a team that causes a highly elaborated and exaggerated shot, which must cross the line in soccer to count for 2 goals.
• Gear System: Players have the ability to alter their Strikers’ base stats (Shooting, Passing, Strength, Technique, and Speed) simply through customizations of different gear, allowing for expression of personal play style.
• Strikers Club: A mode of online multiplayer that allows players to construct their own clubs and play custom-made leagues, and aims for a position on a leader board.
• Team Tackles: An actual system that allows players to tackle their teammates and cause them to gain a speed advantage.
