There’s no changes to gameplay and content in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD Switch NSP.
Don’t expect it to win any awards in 2024 for the visual design, but the stark difference between the original 2013 design is actually very clear. I remember Luigi’s Mansion 2 with its interesting characters and intriguing environments to explore. After 11 years, though, it was somewhat surprising to go back to the original 3DS version, only to be visually overwhelmed by an abundance of rough and uneven edges, much like grated cheese. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is so refined that it effectively capitalises on the mischievous nature of its ghostly enemies, and the intricately designed hallways.

However, everything else — those opponents and environment — have stayed the same over the last decade. There are no additional ghosts to capture, stages to explore, or bosses to face with Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, so far as the gameplay is concerned. This adventure does not include Luigi’s moves like the plunger shot or summoning Gooigi. This translates to a spook-hunting and puzzle-solving experience that retains the cleverly designed levels from the original 3DS game, but with fewer of the interactions available in the third entry in the series.
