About This Game

Description:

Stardew Valley NSP of the charm of Stardew Valley is that it reanimates a very quaint and cherished genre of game. Stardew Valley blatantly borrows from the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory game genre, as opposed to following the more realistic Farm genre as seen in the yearly Farming Simulator or the more unpretentious mobile game genre. Those are the games you will know if you’ve played any of those games. However, Stardew Valley doesn’t only mimic these farming life simulator games.

As there are an excessive amount of big budget titles being released this time of year, it can be harder than ever to stay with the indies. We can’t let this week go by without calling out one of the new eShop games on Switch today, however. We’ve played them all before, but Oxenfree, Axiom Verge and Stardew Valley are some of the best indie games of this past year, and we’d gladly play ’em all again.

Gameplay:

The game, Stardew Valley, has been released on PC last year and was a huge success. It was only a few months after the original, when it reached Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While inspired by the same game as Farmville, Harvest Moon, Eric Barone felt the same way as most fans of the series: The concept of owning your own farm and living the bucolic dream was just fine, but the games themselves.

The concept of a video game about running a farm is more popular than ever before thanks to a series of poorly constructed, but incredibly popular games (Farming Simulator). Not 3D simulations, though, as is the case with Harvest Moon and its offspring, but traditional Japanese role-playing games are their ancestors. That’s most obvious when you start exploring the village and thinking about finding yourself a spouse, but at the start your concerns are more pragmatic.

Stardew Valley NSP key Features:

  • Farming & Life Simulation: Clear land, plant crops over four seasons, raise livestock, build structures, and layout your farm.
  • Community & Relationships: Make more than 30 Pelican Town residents friends, date and marry 12 eligible characters, raise a family.Exploration & Combat: Dig deep mines, fight monsters and collect resources.
  • Upgrade 5 specific skills: Farming, Mining, Combat, Fishing and Foraging.
  • Multiplayer: Up to 4 players play on one farm (both local split screen and online co-op) with the ability to share resources and collaborate.
  • Platform Exclusives (Switch): Controls have been optimized for handheld touch gameplay and come with a special “pointer” mode for the Joy-Con, which lets you navigate the UI much quicker.
