It’s been more than 15 years since Treasure’s spiritual successor to Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga Switch NSP Free Download, was released. When it was released, Ikaruga was controversial as a SHMUP for its puzzle aspects, but it’s the same reason that makes it stand out as an ageless title compared to many of its peers. While many shooters are difficult to go back to due to their reliance on being designed around eating player’s coins, this more modernised take has aged gracefully due to its innovations.

As previously mentioned, Ikaruga incorporates some puzzle elements that make this just as much about the player’s strategies as their reflexes. There are two different types of ships and bullets in the game and the player can absorb damage by switching to its corresponding color. It ends up making some of the early stages (particularly on the lower difficulties) too easy, but then it’s a masterfully designed flow that always has the player thinking about multiple things.

Ikaruga NSP Gameplay:

It’s an exciting game loop but one that is fun to master.Ikaruga is basically a vertically scrolled shoot ’em up game. The game is very simple to design, featuring five stages, three difficulty levels and no power-ups. The principle of polarity is at the heart of Ikaruga, where the player can change the polarity of their ships between black and white. Players are only harmed by the other color bullets, while they take in all of the same color bullets which would build up players’ fire power with homing missiles.

Polarity also affects damage, whereby players inflict double damage on enemies with a different polarity.This seemingly simplistic feature results in an additional layer of strategy, finesse, and frustration while also leading to additional challenges within the community such single-color runs. The game also has a few difficulty settings that appear easily explained on their face, as well as varying in how or if enemies can return fire at your ship upon being destroyed.

Ikaruga NSP Key Features:

• Polarity Switching: Your ship can alternate between two energy modes: Black and White, with the simple press of a button!
• Same Colour Bullets: When bullets fly in your direction and your ship’s same colour, you can safely absorb them. Homing laser attack is charged up by absorbing bullets.
• Damage Multipliers: If the polarity of the firing ship is opposite from the receiving ship, it does double damage; If the polarity of the ship is the same, it only lasts for a short period of time, and if the polarity of the ship is different, it will destroy the ship instantly.
• The Chain Bonus:The game is scored like an arcade game (Chain Bonus). Chain bonuses are awarded for killing enemies in trios of the same colour.
• New Arcade & Prototype Modes: Arcade normal mode and Prototype mode in which you can’t fire bullets as much as you can, so you have to absorb them to keep firing.
