Now on PS5 and Xbox Series, Tiny Lands: Deluxe Edition is a developer attempting to carve out a niche in a really crowded market, the equivalent of which in the Vampire Survivors genre is hours of content and slick presentation. It is a good thing to do, but, for the most part, not without purpose. Tiny Lands – Deluxe Edition is a relaxing 3D game of finding differences between hand-made dioramas. If you are looking for a game that allows you to just sit back and play, Tiny Lands is for you!

You are given two 3D rotatable dioramas which move at the same time, and you have to identify 5 differences between them. The camera can also be panned to the left and right, as well as centred, but cannot be zoomed in fully, putting the onus on rotating. Each finished puzzle earns 5 stars,s which unlocks the next type of puzzle – this is a complete set of about 200 different dioramas, from three previous DLCs.

How difficult you’ll find Tiny Lands depends on your eye for detail. Most of the puzzles I solved took me about five minutes; a few got up to ten minutes. Most have quite an obvious difference, such as a flag a different colour or a large object rotated, along with at least one minor difference, tricky to locate, often requiring the diorama to be spun several times. As there’s no penalty for missteps, I did occasionally resort to clicking on every object – a tactic that usually worked. When you leave a puzzle, any differences that occur will be lost, so you will not be able to dive in and out of puzzles, leaving them unfinished.

Tiny Lands: Deluxe Edition is not a must-have. Neither is it something to play for hours on end, best experienced in small doses due to its repetition, in the sense that puzzles don’t suddenly become bigger, multi-layered or more complex. Well, it’s pretty even in that respect. If you’re stuck with a rainy Sunday afternoon or in front of the fire, though, this is recommended. This package is not exactly ‘tiny but mighty’, but it’s still impactful on the warming atmosphere it makes.
