About This Game

Description:

The game of Musashi vs. Cthulhu is quite simple, simplistic even – it is an action game where you neglect to use the sword in battle and aim and time your strike. Most gamers will welcome the ease of access and the fun of playing, but it probably won’t keep the attention of those who are not looking for a game with a score-keeping or leaderboard element. If you’re aware of what you’re in for, then I believe that Musashi vs Cthulhu is a pretty good time waster. It does a decent job of what it claims to do, though it can get repetitive in no time, but I believe it is still good for the small price it’s being sold at.

Musashi vs Cthulhu (or MxC) is a fast-paced action game where you take control of Musashi – the most famous warrior from feudal Japan -as he’s fighting for his life. The ronin is cursed by a terrible fate and has become the prey of fearsome beasts. After all, that’s what Musashi vs. Cthulhu is. This action game pits you, as Musashi, against an onslaught of creepy-looking monsters you can’t overcome; you just have to stay alive as long as possible. That’s to be expected of arcade action games, but the length of time the action can keep you engaged will depend on your proficiency in the niten’ichi kenjutsu technique.

Gameplay:

Explanation of a few controls, which are also minimal. Musashi is in the middle of the screen, and he’s being attacked from both sides. You move – actually, you don’t move! You jump…no, Musashi does not need jumping. You kick… have some dignity. In the game, the only skill you use is to swing your swords. Up, left, and down on the D-pad are your high, mid, and low attacks to the left. The right side is the same as X, A, and B. You would just thrust your sword in the desired direction.

But that’s only the game’s fundamentals, and Miyamoto Musashi didn’t become the greatest swordsman in Japan by learning the fundamentals of the sword. When you move your swords, you shuffle in that direction, which enables you to recover from attacks from the other direction. Knowing the enemy’s speed is important; you might be attacking a character that will pass you by. Some enemies can take several hits, so practice getting your shot on quickly to be efficient.

Key Features:

  • There is no movement or dodging on Rhythmic Mechanics: Musashi is fixed where he is. It is the player’s responsibility to press specific directional buttons to hit glowing weak points (head, torso, or legs), as enemies come from both sides of the screen.
  • Onslaught: The more kills you make,e the harder it will be. Your enemies will attack in larger groups, move fast,e r and need several hits before they become vulnerable and will eventually test your agility by running and flanking you or by warping behind you.
  • Three Hit System: You take 3 hits and die, but hitting an enemy’s weak point will send them back a bit, providing some breathing space.
  • Combo & Lamp Meter: Attacking successfully will fill up a meter, and chaining your attacks in succession will fill up the meter even more. This is useful when you miss a swing or hit it; it will serve as a shield.
  • A multitude of monster types: Meet several terrifying enemies with different attack patterns, health levels, and other characteristics – you have to be ready for anything.
