After developing one of the finest indie roguelikes of the last several years with Exit the Gungeon NSP, some may have thought that the follow-up would be a disaster for developer Dodge Roll. Obviously, it’s to stop playing The Gungeon. There’s no actual sequel, but more of an extended epilogue.

After a confrontation with and the elimination of their former selves, our four playable Gungeer characters have to rise to the surface of the titular dungeon before the entire supernatural structure comes crashing down. It isn’t done with more of the same high-impact top-down action, but rather through a series of brief, intense 2D action-platformer arena challenges. Exit the Gungeon NSP Features:

• Blessed Weapons: No taking permanent guns. Rather, each time you advance, your weapon is ‘blessed’ by the Sorceress and becomes random in style (e.g. nail guns become guitars).
• Play well and survive: without taking damage – Combo System is created. The more powerful forms your transforming gun will assume the higher your combo.
• Vertical Dodge-Rolling: There is an element of vertical platform, and when playing that way, players can jump or “vertical dodge roll” in the air and temporarily avoid being hit by enemy fire.
• Blanks & Dodging: They have the classic invulnerable dodge-roll, and screen-clearing “Blanks” (smart bombs) to get them out of tight bullet-hell situations.
• No two runs are the same: Dynamic and Shifting Environments. You’ll be in a battle on the changing elevators, outrun massive drills, and maneuver through different rooms, each with different layouts and dangers.
