It’s a carefully selected exhibit at a museum that will take you from the early arcade-fighting era of Goemon all the way through to its later ‘experimental’ runs in the late 90s.

A cute but fun action game that set the tone for the series of Japanese folklore and slapstick humor. The formula was quickly perfected in its direct sequel, Ganbare Goemon 2 (1989), which immediately sharpened the formula with its amazing speed of development . This period was the “classic” Goemon formula: the side-scrolling action game with its unique comedic style. The collection even boldly features the RPG side-stories.

The final works in the collection are the late-90s works, Kurofune Tou no Nazo (1997) and Tengu-tou no Gyakushuu! (1999), and Seikuushi Dynamites Arawaru!! (2000) .
