Description:

Over Requiemz (all caps) is an otome game published by the Otomate label of Idea Factory and developed by Kogado Studio. A young teenager who accidentally stumbled upon a different realm. A young person who accidentally found himself in the Land of Oz. Due to her black eyes and black hair, she is locked up as “demon-possessed”. She stands up for herself in this irrational situation with mental toughness and grit.

This was by far my favourite route and character! Noil is such a likeable character, seeming rough on the outside, but gentle on the inside. His trauma was the most interesting and impressed me particularly with his presentation. The game is based on an actual psychological theory on the treatment of his trauma, simultaneously astounding and moving, gentle and sensitively told. There’s a lot of healing trauma otome routes out there, but this one was so real. On top of that, I think that these two had the most relatable love story, with the most intense moments, and focus on mutual support and trust, as they grew and faced everything together as equals.

Gameplay:

The rest of the routes are self-explanatory. I believe Kaize is a good introduction into the world, Morii has the cruellest, Claude is also pretty cruel, so I placed Noil in between as a little, really little break from all that cruel craziness. Kaize’s route also has links with the truth, so if you have no wish to get any information, you can also play him second last.

Claude is a researcher who has been convinced that he murdered an entire village with his family in one night, but to Yuhiro, he’s a kind old brother. He reliably takes care of her so much that his own worries almost went unnoticed. Claude was such an amusing character, who sometimes isn’t of this world. He is dangerously good-looking and often gets hit on and thus assumes it’s just like people are around here! Because he’s afraid of ghosts, he eagerly tries to convince himself they don’t exist.

Key Features:

• Fact vs. Dark Paths: Both love interests have completely different storylines. Players may want to take the ‘Fact’ path for redemption or the dark, intense, and yandere-oriented ‘Dark’ paths.
• No Locked Routes: Once the players have finished a short prologue, they can go straight to the story lines of all the love interests and pursue any story line without having to go through a certain order or play throughs.
• Interactive Flowchart: The game has a very detailed flowchart system, which gives players the ability to go directly to any conversation or chapter they have met, making it easy to replay specific areas of the game.
• Unique Dialogue & Choices: No affection meter is common to most games. On the contrary, most of the story is dialogue-free, with no consequence for your choice, and certain marked options determine which way or which sad/good end you’ll end up with.
• Unlockable Voices: By achieving certain goals and testing out various dialogue options, players will unlock exclusive and unique character voice lines.
