About This Game

Description:

Stanley Parable is a 2013 story-based video game developed and authored by game developers Davey Wreden and William Pugh. The game lets the player control a silent character named Stanley, and the narration is provided by British actor Kevan Brighting. Throughout the story, the player will find himself in situations where he must make choices and take branches. The player may challenge Brighting’s ”The Narrator”, which,h if not obeyed, will be used in the story. There are various endings for the player depending on the scenarios chosen, before resetting the game to the start.

Stanley Parable was first published by Wreden on July 31, 20,11 as a free modification for Valve’s Half-Life 2. Wreden and Pugh later released a stand-alone modified version, also based on the Source engine, as Galactic Cafe. The remake made many of the mod’s decisions, with the addition of new levels and story routes, and remodelling the graphics of the whole game. This was announced and approved on Steam Greenlight in 2012, and was released in 2013 on October 17 for Windows. Later updates to the game added support for macOS on December 19, 2013, and for Linux on September 9, 2015. This is an expanded edition of the book.

Gameplay:

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is out now (27th April 2022). It is now available for consoles as well as on other platforms it had previously supported, and adds more content and enhanced graphics. On October 7, 2024, an iOS version of Ultra Deluxe was published. The mod and its two remakes were met with critical acclaim and commercial success. The game sold more than 1 million units in a year, and reviewers applauded the narrative and how it shed light on what player choice and decision-making mean.

The Narrator says that Stanley went through the leftmost door, but this has not happened yet. The Narrator takes the player’s choices into consideration and acts accordingly, either with new narration or trying to get the player back on track if he goes off course. If the player were to follow the direction of the Narrator to go through the left-most door, the missing employees’ story continues. If the player selects the rightmost door, the Narrator will change his narration.
